Be Honest – Do You Make Matters Worse?

Everyone Cares – Unbelievable
Repeating Life Patterns
Is Mindfulness Fake Or Real

Sometimes, whether we want to agree or not, we do make matters worse. Of course, I know the minute I say that some will agree and others may say, “Oh no I don’t!”

Then you’ve got the group of people that will see themselves as righteous or correct while viewing others as being the ones that actually make matters worse. Now, no one will admit to it, but they do it.

Unfortunately, we tend to see ourselves through rose-colored glasses while seeing others without the same view.

“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? Matthew 7:3

To Thine Ownself Be True

One of the hardest issues humans face is to be true to thine own self. We spend far more time noticing how others are, but we don’t see ourselves in a true form. We judge others, but we give ourselves a pass.

I think we make matters worse in life when we are not true to ourselves. It is so subtle and yes, most people do this, but few realize they do.

Take stock of your day and see how you respond to others that don’t agree with you.

  • What happens when you observe that?
  • Are you truly seeing them in the proper way or are you practicing imbalance?
  • Are the old tapes of how you have always responded playing or is there room to see things differently?

Often times, we don’t observe what we truly do toward others. We don’t see how we judge them, so we make matters worse. If more people focused on themselves rather than on everyone else, the world would be a much kinder and gentler place.

Ego Controls Us More Than We Think

When our ego controls us more than we think it does, we make matters worse. These days, the ego is more powerful than it should be all across this globe. I’m flabbergasted by what I see in a day. It is like no one sees how big their ego is. They are blinded to it. It is like they can see the speck in the eyes of another, but not the plank in their own eye.

Of course, that is what an ego does!

If we do not stop allowing the ego to roam the streets freely, this world will become a much harsher place to live. No, it isn’t about what others do. It is about how we interact and what we do. It really is up to each one of us to figure this out, but right now we’re living in times where people are oblivious.

Are You Really Helping Solve The Problem

The other day I went to visit a Facebook page of someone I knew many years ago and admired. I noticed that their page was filled with petition after petition for all kinds of causes. Maybe you could say that it is important to support things we care about, but I question if signing and posting a petition on your Facebook page really does this. It seems as if this becomes the activity, rather than helping the problem.

I see people retweeting and sharing stuff about people they despise. Yes, I would agree that some of this gross behavior needs to be brought out, but it goes beyond that in its ability to make matters worse.

What I often see is that people thinking they are doing something helpful end up doing that which they despise. The only thing is, they cannot see it. Their attempt at helping to solve the problem becomes an obsession that destroys the peaceful energy of the world.

Are You Blinded By What You Don’t See

I really believe that one reason we make matters worse is we are blinded by what we don’t see. You could argue that if you cannot see it, then how can you be blinded by it? Unfortunately, that’s where the ego tricks us into not becoming aware of those parts of us we hide from view.

All my life I played the role I was born into with respect to my family. I didn’t see how judgmental I was or how narrow-minded I had become. It was such a part of my life that it all seemed normal. Not until my life nearly came to a screeching halt, as I share in my book, Overcoming A Mysterious Condition, did I begin to wake up in life.

Do You Make Matters Worse?

The only person that can answer that truthfully and honestly is you. I can’t answer this question for you and no one close to you can answer it either. However, I fully understand through my own challenges that if we choose not to answer it, life will do it for us.

You may get by for a long time without being fully confronted with how much your ego hides from your awareness. Sooner or later, though, it will catch up. Unfortunately when it does, it often hits us through mental health issues or physical body challenges.

Unless we begin to make the connection between all of this, we not only suffer physically, but we continue to make matters worse.
