Author Interview Dana Arcuri

Dana Arcuri

Dana Arcuri, the author of several books and a Youtube Podcast sits down with us for this author interview.

I know Dana from Twitter and enjoy her insights and how she shares her own experiences.

I love her YouTube podcast because she takes individual topics and goes into much more depth about life and all things healing.

Dana is not only a published author, but a public speaker, wellness advocate, and trauma advocate.

Question 1: Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.

I am an inspiring author, speaker, health advocate who delivers a powerful message of healing, health, and hope. A few years ago, I started writing and speaking about child abuse, sexual assaults, Complex PTSD/PTSD, and healing trauma. As an abuse survivor, I advocate and support other survivors. I’ve written five nonfiction books, plus I had been a contributing author of a sixth book.

Question 2: What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?

My soon to be released book is Soul Cry: Releasing & Healing the Wounds of Trauma. Two years ago, I felt prompted to write my real, raw, survivor story. I had placed it on the back burner because I was in the midst of writing my 4th book. In 2017, the #MeToo movement inspired me to courageously tell my true story. To let hurting souls know that abuse is not their fault, they are not alone, and they deserve to heal.

Question 3: What are you working on now, and what are you reading now?

Currently, my book, Soul Cry, is in the editing process, which keeps me busy with revisions. In addition, I’m working as a memoir writing coach to motivate aspiring writers to learn the memoir craft. I’ve always been an avid reader who juggles several books at one time. I’m reading Life on Loan by Ashley Farley, Overcoming A Mysterious Condition by Don Shetterly, and Stay by Catherine Ryan Hyde.

Question 4: Where do you get your ideas?

I get 95% of all of my ideas from my own personal experiences. The good, the bad, and the major potholes in life. With some of my books, I do research and gain more facts, especially if it involves mental health, medical conditions, or holistic alternatives. However, I’ve always had quite a wild imagination with creative ideas that seem to flow easily.

Question 5: What is the best advice you have ever heard?

The best advice that I ever heard is that we cannot change anyone, nor fix anyone other than our own selves. Transformation is an inside job. It’s empowering!

Question 6: What other authors are you friends with, and how do they help you become a better writer?

My author friend, Laura Corbeth. who wrote My Courage To Tell, helped to give me more insight about bullying, gaslighting, and narcissistic abuse. She offered me suggestions to write the truth about my abuse without using labels. My author friend, Beth Jones, who’s written close to 20 books, has been the biggest encouragement to me. She has motivated and inspired me to step out of my comfort zone when writing my true stories.

Question 7: What’s next for you as a writer?

I believe that I’m in a season in life in which I’d like to do more public speaking events, especially for survivors of child abuse, sexual assaults, and trauma. In addition, I plan to continue offering coaching for aspiring writers who want to make their dreams come true.

Question 8: Where can someone purchase your books, and how can they reach you?

My books can be purchased directly on Amazon.
